'No Mans Land' Is All About The Dog

If you missed Activision's pre-E3 Call of Duty: Ghosts live stream, you may still be wondering why everyone is fawning over "the dog." Riley (the canine companion who made his debut during the Xbox One reveal) is an invaluable member of your small team. The extended trailer below shows why.

Riley can stealthily prowl around enemies, picking off lone guards one by one. He's also used in some of the set piece moments that the franchise is known for, as you'll see at the end of the video. Be sure to also read our coverage from E3 2013.

Call of Duty: Ghosts arrives for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on November 5, 2013. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions will come later.

  • I'm not much of a Call of Duty fan, the games are alright but I really hope the dog doesn't die in the story progression = ( I love dogs.

  • Ummm... maybe I missed something, but when the dog breached why did the door explode?

  • Man, that was boring. I don't care how much Activision is trying to tell us that the dog will be some emotional force/badass to me it looks just as bland as any other cod character, plus, the "stealthy" dog sequences look terrible. I don't know whether that was played on a PC or console, but the graphics looked really outdated, which is incredibly stupid considering how much time they spent at the Xbox One announcement talking about their "cutting edge graphics".

  • How does a dog learn to preform a stealth take down, and why is it that San Diego looks nothing like San Diego?

  • Still looks like even the dog segments are still pretty linear, like everything else in the series. Too bad that you can't seem to use the dog whenever you want to on perps outside of cheap "dog" sequences that they prompt you to do.

  • My main question is are they going to have another mode like survival. Although survival wasn't all that good in mw3 I fell it has a lot of potential.

  • It looks like you're going to be handcuffed, shackled and escorted throughout the entire game. Because that trailer was all kill him, get down, lure and then kill him. Where the player's choice?
