The lights are on
Ubisoft has released an impressive new trailer for Assassin's
Creed IV: Black Flag that features fresh new gameplay footage.
The trailer introduces players to Edward Kenway, an
assassin-trained pirate wreaking havoc on the Caribbean seas at the beginning
of the 18th century. Some of the activities you'll
engage in are depicted, from ship-to-ship battles to diving for treasure to getting eaten by
sharks – though I guess that last one is more of a "terrible thing that can
happen" than an "activity."
I wasn't initially sold on Black
Flag's pirate theme (specifically, I'd rather have a great pirate game from
Ubisoft without the Assassin's Creed trappings), but the video does a good job
of selling both the naval action and the locations, which provide a greater
visual variety than AC III did. Here's the trailer:
Ubisoft also announced Gamestop's Black Island Pack pre-order
bonus for the game, which includes a variety of Captain Morgan-themed content,
including a treasure-hunting quest on Black Island, the Black Ship vessel, and Captain Morgan's silver flintlock pistols.
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag releases on Xbox 360,
PlayStation 3, and Wii U on October 29. For more on Black Flag's setting, check

interview with the developers. To learn about some real pirates, check out

Cool. Can't wait to see more gameplay footage of this bad boy.
Looking forward to the naval battles, my favorite part of AC3. I just hope the cities here are more exciting than Boston and New York.
Still yet to have me sold. Maybe if they release one of two more trailers showing off the assassins portion of the game, not simply an Uncharted 1 type game...
Looks amazing! I'll still have to see more about how the protagonist and the story shapes up, but at least this is looking like on heck of a time! Love the deep-sea diving and the ship battles. It's like Assassin's Far Cry 3!
Was skeptical, now excited
That narrator pronounces "adversaries" really weirdly.
This looks interesting especially the deep-sea diving and being able to punch a shark on the nose.
The Black Chest Edition they showed looks sick! But also quite a lot more expensive, according to the Uplay store. Gonna save up for that.
I didn't enjoy AC3 as much but I have high hopes for Black Flag. Bring it on!
Am I the only one who's mostly disturbed by the fact that Edward becomes bald when the hood's on? =/ They could use it to promote the next-gen versions: "The epic adventure, NOW WITH HAIR!".
