Friday Rock Recs: Dorothy – "After Midnight"

by Brian Shea on Jun 03, 2016 at 10:29 AM

This week, I want to look at a band that has much less history under its belt. Dorothy is a band that got its start in 2014 and instantly received recognition for its rowdy brand of rock and roll, with Rolling Stone naming them one of the new artists you need to know.

I only recently discovered Dorothy myself, but I've loved pretty much every song I've heard of theirs. After releasing some singles an an EP, the band is preparing to release its first LP later this month, titled ROCKISDEAD. This is stellar timing, as the band recently wrapped up a run of gigs opening for Halestorm and Lita Ford, and is currently out on the road with rising stars, The Struts.

While I love songs like "Wildfire" and "Raise Hell," the track that has always stuck out to me has been "After Midnight." The uproarious rocker shows off vocalist Dorothy Martin's impressive vocal range and features the big sound fans of classic hard rock have come to love. Check it out below and if you like what you hear, you can look forward to Dorothy's ROCKISDEAD on June 24.
