Find Out What BB-8 Has In Common With NASA’s Mars Rover

by Luke Walaszek on Apr 08, 2016 at 10:42 AM

Disney posted a video today of BB-8 visiting the NASA Jet Propulsion laboratory to meet Maggie, a Mars rover.

Maggie is a double of Curiosity, the rover currently on Mars. Maggie is used to test operations and simulate missions before they’re carried out by Curiosity on the planet’s surface. Curiosity photographs the terrain on Mars, surveying the landscape to find out if it was ever capable of sustaining life. While BB-8 brings a few comedic shenanigans to the play date, the video mainly focuses on the technology behind Maggie and the functions the rovers are designed to carry out. Hey, you have to make education fun somehow, right?
