Here’s Why People Are Talking About Zelda Wii U And International Cuisine
With The Legend of Zelda Wii U out this year, but still largely an unknown, fans are hungry for every table scrap of information they can get. The latest reportedly comes from the most recent issue of Japan’s Famitsu magazine.
Kotaku reports that series producer Eiji Aonuma offered a brief comment to the Famitsu. There’s not much there, other than the promise that this Zelda title will bring “something new.”
According to Kotaku’s translation, Aonuma suggests that this entry will feel a bit different. “This time, the change in flavor will be like going from Japanese food to Western style food,” he reportedly said.
The Legend of Zelda is due out in 2016 for Wii U. The last we saw of the game was in December 2014 during The Game Awards. It was delayed in mid-2015 and still does not have an announced formal title. Recently Aonuma suggested that Twilight Princess is the "starting point" for the game he's currently working on.
Our Take
It would be easy to read into the Japanese/Western food analogy and assume that the next Zelda game is going to be heavily Westernized. However, we’re seeing this statement by way of an unofficial translation and can’t lie eyes on the original text to have it translated on our own. I wouldn’t make any rash assumptions about the content of the next game solely based on this statement.
