Aonuma Calls Twilight Princess The Starting Point For The New Wii U Zelda In Latest Retrospective

by Luke Walaszek on Mar 04, 2016 at 10:29 AM

In the fourth and final installment in the Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess Retrospective series, director Eiji Aonuma talks about the process of bringing the game to Wii U, what the GamePad adds to the experience, and even hints at the future of Zelda.

The ever-present map and inventory on the GamePad make Twilight Princess a more fluid experience, according to Aonuma. The development team also talks about the origin of the Wolf Link Amiibo and the decision to include an extra challenge dungeon with it.

At the end of the video, Aonuma briefly hints at his plans for the upcoming Zelda on Wii U, saying that many of the ideas in that game came from his work on Twilight Princess. Aonuma says that Twilight Princess was a “starting point” for the work he’s doing now.
