Destiny Finally Gets A Good Live-Action Commercial...In Japan

by Jeff Marchiafava on Sep 11, 2015 at 09:02 AM

Bungie and Activision have dabbled in live-action marketing for Destiny before, and the results were cringe worthy. However, Sony's most recent Destiny commercial for Japanese audiences will make you forget all that.

In the video below, Japanese actor and supposed Destiny super-fan Ryo Katsuji lures two friends to a late-night Laundromat to impress upon them the epic importance of playing Bungie's shooter with him. In addition to making his own space-helmet sound effects, screaming into washing machines, and startling the crap out of everyone he comes in contact with, Katsuji provides a brief setup of Destiny's plot (it's humorous and informative!).

Sony's site also contains a behind-the-scenes interview and making-of video for Katsuji fans. All in all, it's a pretty effective commercial, even if it doesn't feature Led Zeppelin. Get yourself ready for next week's launch of The Taken King by visiting our coverage hub.
