Batman: Arkham Knight's Season Pass Detailed, Includes Prequel Starring Playable Batgirl

by Kyle Hilliard on May 03, 2015 at 05:33 AM

We now know what will be included in Batman: Arkham Knight's pricey season pass, the highlight being Batgirl being playable for the first time.

When it was revealed on Thursday, all we knew was that it would be $40 (there is also a $99 digital premium edition that includes the game and the season pass), add content to the game for six months following release. We knew it would include skins, challenge maps, and race tracks, and it hinted at story missions and additional villains. Now, we know exactly what will be included.

The most exciting of the bunch are the collections of story missions. Batgirl: A Matter of Family let's players play as Batgirl for the first time in a prequel campaign that will take place in an entirely new location. The Season of Infamy casts players as Batman with "legendary super-villains invading Gotham City, with new story arcs, missions and gameplay features." Gotham City Stories has players playing as an assortment of Batman's allies in story missions that take place before and after the events of Arkham Knight.

You will also get to play with different Batmobiles from Batman's 75-year history on tracks themed to specific Batman eras. Finally, you will also gain access to assorted skins and challenge maps. You can see the DLC fully detailed here.

Our Take
This is a pretty hefty list that goes a long way in justifying the $40 pay-in-advance price tag of the DLC. I'm not sure why these details weren't available when the DLC was announced. Maybe Rocksteady wanted to keep Batgirl a secret? In any case, we are much better equipped to decide if we think it's worth the expenditure. I'm particulalry interested in playing as Batgirl in a separate campaign. That sounds very cool.
