Batman: Arkham Knight Season Pass Announced And Priced, But Details Sparse

by Mike Futter on Apr 28, 2015 at 04:01 AM

Warner Bros. has announced both a season pass and digital premium edition for Batman: Arkham Knight. The details aren’t complete yet, but the publisher says that it has six months of post-launch content planned for the game.

The $39.99 season pass (also included in the $99.99 digital premium edition at no discount) is a collection of skins, challenge maps, and race tracks. WB also alludes to new story missions and more super-villains, but there’s no indication of how deep these experiences will be.

Batman: Arkham Knight will be out on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on June 23. To see the game in action, check out a new trailer featuring Robin, Nightwing, and Catwoman.

Our Take
Warner Bros. has a habit of prematurely announcing season passes for games before the publisher is willing to share complete details. We don’t know how many character and Batmobile skins, race tracks, super villains, or story missions are included.

It’s impossible to make a value judgment at this point with details so sparse. I’m not opposed to DLC being announced prior to a game’s release (though this is pushing it at two months out), but when you’re offering a product, you’d best be ready to get specific about what’s included at a hefty $40 price.
