Evolve Open Beta Is Live On Xbox One Now, Pre-Purchase Bonus Not Yet Working

by Mike Futter on Jan 15, 2015 at 07:39 AM

2K and Turtle Rock have flipped the switch on the Evolve Open Beta on Xbox One. From now through Monday, January 19 at 11 p.m. Eastern, you’ll be able to hunt (and be hunted).

The open beta includes eight hunters and two monsters (Goliath and Kraken). If you pre-purchase the game digitally though, you can gain access to the third set of hunters and the third monster (Wraith). Unfortunately, that seems to be having some issues according to the official Twitter account.

There is also a complicated DLC scheme, as well as different editions you can purchase on different platforms. You can read up on those here and here.

Evolve will be out on February 10 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. For more, check out our cover story from February 2014.

Our Take
I haven’t played Evolve with a controller since Gamescom, and I’m looking forward to jumping into a match or two this weekend. The game has a lot of potential. I just hope it has staying power to keep players hooked long-term. As for the pre-purchase bonus problem, I hope for 2K's sake that it gets cleared up quickly.
