[Update] PSN Back Online For Most After Additional Connectivity Problems On December 29

by Mike Futter on Dec 30, 2014 at 12:11 AM

Update: For most, PlayStation Network is back online. However, Sony has acknowledged that lingering problems are affecting a portion of users that suffered errors from the holiday outage and yesterday's additional problems.

"We realize that some are still reporting issues connecting to PSN," a PlayStation representative wrote on the official forums. "We are currently working on gathering some information from those affected."

Sony is asking that affected users share their location, internet service provider, affected console, and specific errors (with screenshots, if possible). You can share that information here.

Original Story:

Here we go again. After readers alerted us to new problems (or perhaps those that have re-emerged), we have been able to confirm that the PlayStation Network is experiencing problems.

When attempting to access our friends list, we received error CE-34861-2. Additionally, Bungie has identified problems with players connecting and other tests suggest the problem is network related and not tied to a single title.

The PlayStation Store seems to be working, however. Sony’s PSN support page reports conflicting information, stating the the service is both “Online” and experiencing “Intermittent Connectivity.”

We’ll stay on top of this and update as we know more.
