Xbox Live And PlayStation Network Services Back Online
Last night both Sony and Microsoft confirmed its online services were returning to normal functionality.
Both Xbox Live and PlayStation Network have been experience issues since Christmas day. Nintendo's online services have been mostly unaffected.

PlayStation Network is back online. As you probably know, PlayStation Network and some other gaming services were attacked over the holidays with artificially high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. This may have prevented your access to the network and its services over the last few days.

Similarly, the Xbox Live status page confirms that things have returned to normal.
On my Vita this morning, I have had no issues looking at my friend's list to see others online, and have been able to access the store without delays. The same goes for Xbox Live.
Sony's update confirms the down time resulting from an attack, as opposed to simply the large amounts of extra traffic from new PlayStation device owners from Christmas.
