The lights are on
Nosgoth, Square Enix's Legacy of Kain MOBA, is currently in closed beta, but this weekend the game opens up to everyone – temporarily.
From now until midnight PT the night of Sunday, August 10, anyone can dive in to try the game out. All you will need is a capable PC and a Steam account. You will also gain double experience while playing. You can find out more about the free weekend by heading here.
The full release for the game is planned for this winter, with details on a true open beta (not just a weekend) promised soon. For some of our own impressions on Nosgoth, head here.

Our TakeThe feedback on Nosgoth from players has generally been positive. It's not the Legacy of Kain game we expected, and we'd still like to see a new Legacy of Kain entry that falls in line with the mechanics and gameplay of the previous games in the franchise, but Nosgoth looks like it will be a fun game taking place in the universe we enjoy. The question remains, however, as to whether or not it will be able to compete with games like League of Legends and Dota 2. Maybe this weekend will offer a good opportunity to find out.
