[Update] Xbox Live Is In The Clear

by Mike Futter on Jul 17, 2014 at 02:34 PM

Update 3: Xbox Live is now up and running with only a couple of minor issues. The PBS and Twitch apps are experiencing intermittent service problems, but all other functions are up and running.

Update 2: We reached out to a Microsoft representative about the cause and projected time frame for recovery, and the company had this to say.

“Xbox Live is experiencing a service interruption with sign-in for Xbox One and some impact for Xbox 360. Accessing Xbox Music and Xbox Video services on other platforms is also currently unavailable. Our engineering teams are working to fix the issues and we expect service to be back to full performance as soon as possible. Please visit xbox.com for continued updates. In the meantime, our apologies for the interruption.”

Update 1: It appears that some of the problems are being resolved, with Xbox 360 sign-in removed from the list of issues. We are also reminded that some of these issues have been lingering since before the July 4 weekend.

These include purchasing problems and issues related to some video apps.

Original Story:

Earlier today, we reported that PlayStation Network is having problems due to interest in the Destiny Beta. Now, it looks like Microsoft is having troubles of its own.

Xbox Live appears to be down as confirmed by the Xbox Live services page. According to Microsoft, purchase and content usage is affected across consoles and PC. Xbox Live sign-in also seems to be down on Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.

We were unable to sign in when we tested, also. We’ve contacted Microsoft for more information and will update should we receive a response.
