[Update] Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono Resigns From Vancouver Studio

Update: Yoshinori Ono has updated fans via Twitter with some additional information about his changing role within Capcom. The Street Fighter producer is staying with the publisher.

Longtime Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono has announced his departure from the publisher’s Vancouver studio. Ono, who also worked on Dead Rising, made the announcement via Twitter.

Ono was also tied to Capcom’s upcoming PlayStation 4 title, Deep Down. We’ve reached out to Capcom for comment on Ono’s status with the company, and we’ll update should we receive a response. It's unclear right now if Ono is simply relocating or if he's leaving the company altogether.

We had the chance to catch up with Ono in early 2012, as he visited our offices to take on some of the Game Informer editors in Street Fighter X Tekken. Shortly thereafter, Ono suffered health problems and collapsed during an event for the game in Japan. He temporarily stepped down to recover, though he continued to have a major role with the Street Fighter franchise and the company.
