Assassin's Creed III Animation Director Moves Over To Naughty Dog

by Kyle Hilliard on May 05, 2014 at 03:23 PM

Jonathan Cooper, former animation director on Assassin's Creed III and lead animator on Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2, has moved over to Naughty Dog.

According to Cooper's LinkedIn account, his new position at Naughty Dog is simply that of animator. Before leaving Ubisoft and following Assassin's Creed III, Cooper was working on a unannounced project with Ubisoft, "Prototyping a revolutionary new kind of navigation system for next-gen systems."

In the past few months, Naughty Dog has had trouble holding on to its talent. It recently lost its lead character artist Michael Knowland, lead artist Nate Wells, and of course Amy Hennig.

Our Take
It's unclear exactly what is happening over at Naughty Dog, but it's hard to deny that the studio isn't experiencing radical changes. It may have recently lost some talented folks, but Cooper's new position shows that the studio is also gaining new proven talent.
