The lights are on
Update: Konami has sent out a press release confirming that users worldwide will receive an update to Ground Zeroes on May 1 that unlocks the platform-exclusive missions.
When Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes released last month, users who got the game on Sony platforms had access to one extra mission, while Microsoft users got a different one. According to a recent announcement from Konami, it looks like the playing field will soon be even.
On the latest Kojima Productions podcast, the developer announced that the Deja Vu and Jamais Vu missions will be available as free DLC on May 1 in Japan. No North American confirmation or date was specified, but it would be surprising if the move didn't cascade overseas.
Normally, Deja Vu and Jamais Vu are secret missions that must be unlocked by collecting every XOF patch in the main campaign. Deja Vu features Snake recreating iconic scenes from the original Metal Gear Solid, while Jamais Vu stars the cyborg Raiden hunting down body snatchers around Camp Omega.
This is great news for fans of Ground Zeroes. By now, we’re all used to platform-exclusive content eventually releasing on all systems. However, the extra stuff usually comes with a price tag. The fact that Kojima Production and Konami aren’t charging people here is a smart move – especially considering that some people already feel like they overpaid for Ground Zeroes.
