Assassin’s Creed Movie Gets New Writing Team

by Mike Futter on Apr 08, 2014 at 06:07 AM

The Assassin’s Creed movie, which will star X-Men: First Class and Days of Future Past star Michael Fassbender, has a new writing team. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard that someone has been tapped to pen the video game inspired film, though.

In January of last year, playwright Michael Lesslie was rumored to be writing the screenplay. Now, Deadline is reporting that Exodus: Gods and Kings (about biblical figure Moses) writers Adam Cooper and Bill Collage will be handling a rewrite.

New Regency is working with Ubisoft on the Assassin’s Creed film. The title is projected to be released in the second half of 2015.

Our Take
Until there’s an official date, an announced cast, and a firm crew, don’t count this movie as a done deal. I’d rather have no Assassin’s Creed movie than a bad one, so I hope Ubisoft and New Regency take the time they need to get it right.
