The lights are on
The upcoming Assassin's Creed movie will star Michael Fassbender, who most notably played Magneto in X-Men: First Class and David in Prometheus.
"Michael Fassbender was our first choice to play the franchise's iconic hooded hero," Jean-Julien Baronnet, CEO of Ubisoft Motion Pictures told Variety in an interview. "Michael is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor."
Fassbender, who will also co-produce the film, recently had roles in Haywire and Shame. The report says Ubisoft will develop the film internally but could still distribute it through Sony.

Sounds good to me.
Great actor with lots of range. Good choice.
Not a bad pick to play Desmond, not sure who I would pick to play Altair or Ezio.
I have great faith in this now. He was awesome in Prometheus and in X-Men: First Class. I can rest easy knowing that it is probable that he will do amazing in this film as well, making it even better than it will hopefully be.
So, Ubisoft will actually be involved in the film's production. That's interesting, hopefully all goes well.
I really hope they don't do the original storyline but instead star a new assassin altogether which I'm betting they'll do anyways. We've all seen seen & played the Ezio & Altair story each about 1000 times. Not saying that they aren't the epitome of badassery, but Ubi & everyone should pretty much be done with their story about now.
Hopefully this amazing actor will garner some more attention for this movie.
