Bluepoint Games Handling Xbox 360 Version Of Titanfall

Chances are you’ve played (or at least seen) some of Bluepoint Games’ work. The studio’s resumé is a list of titles you’d typically attribute to other developers. Their work has been well regarded, as the developer has quietly worked to update your favorite games.

Respawn founder Vince Zampella tweeted this evening that Bluepoint Games is handling the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall. The studio’s history includes the Vita version of PlayStation All-Stars, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, The Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection, and God of War Collection (God of War 1 and 2 on PlayStation 3).

The studio’s only original title is Blast Factor, a 2006 twin-stick shooter for PlayStation 3. We still have not yet seen footage of the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall. We’re eager to learn how the last-gen version stacks up in terms of features. Xbox One and PC beta tests were just announced. No news is available yet on whether there will be a test phase for Xbox 360. Titanfall will be released on March 11, 2014.

Update: Respawn engineer Jon Shiring has confirmed that all three versions of Titanfall will be running on Xbox Live Compute for dedicated servers.

Our Take
It’s entirely possible that the only major difference between Titanfall on Xbox One and Xbox 360 will be the graphics. If that’s the case, it will be a major victory for Bluepoint that is bringing a game designed with more powerful systems in mind to those that haven’t yet upgraded.
