Report: Blizzard Considering Vita Remote Play For Diablo III On PlayStation 4

by Kyle Hilliard on Nov 10, 2013 at 05:42 AM

Julie Humphreys, the senior producer behind the console versions of Diablo III, recently said that adding Vita Remote Play to the PlayStation 4 version of Diablo III is an idea the studio is considering.

Speaking with CVG at Blizzcon, Humphreys said that in regard to Remote Play, "That is something we are looking into. I would say we are in the earliest stages of looking at that. We want to make sure that it is readable and is a good user experience."

Speaking with GameSpot, however, senior level designer for Diablo III Matthew Berger said that currently the studio is not looking into it, citing the amount of action happening on screen might not translate well to a smaller screen.

Our Take
Remote Play is a fantastic feature in theory, but using it with the PlayStation 3, the PSP, and the Vita always proved disappointing and laggy. Hopefully the PlayStation 4 and Vita implementation will be much more polished. I would like to see Diablo III use the feature, but if it doesn't come to fruition, I would understand. Blizzard is always busy, but it seems to have an exceptionally full plate at the moment.
