The lights are on
Deep Silver's Dead Island announcement trailer, which used reversed footage to show a tragic family vacation, is one of the most well-known video game trailers ever released. The video currently has more than 12 million views on YouTube.
Now, Machinima has released a fan-made live action retelling of that trailer. The shot-for-shot remake is still as chilling, frightening and emotional as ever.

That is some great work right there. Got me in the mood to wanna play Dead Island lol
It was good until the disconnect at the ending by using the CG from the original trailer. I can imagine how much easier it would have been to shoot that part. That said, the rest of it was done really well.
man after all this time that trailer is still tugging on my heartstrings
This would make an epic movie if done correctly!! Dead Island is easily one of my favorite zombie games, too bad Riptide was a rip-off giant terd.
Didn't really care for the use of the CG at the end from the original trailer. If done properly I think that a movie based on these three characters would actually be pretty good. Unfortunately that won't happen and if it did I'm sure it would be done horribly and changed to have a happy ending, which would be disappointing. Anyways, this is pretty good!
Wow, very well done!

Cool video. The original trailer is one of the best, which makes me wonder - what are some of your favorite video game trailers? For me personally, the first Gears of War with "Mad World" by Gary Jules takes the top spot. Something about that song captures the mood of the game perfectly.
I haven't seen that trailer in quite a while and yet its still emotional to watch for some reason. I was almost to tears like I was the first time i saw it . . .
I have both of these games and never seen this before. It made me sad. Thanks game informer!
Still my favorite game trailer, people think I'm crazy but I think it's beautiful! It gets me every time, and this live action version is no different lol oh man that music! It's like watching a 3min movie and even though you know the outcome due to the rewinding play, you still root for this family and hurt for them all the more at the end when you see how happy they were before.
