The lights are on
It's safe to say that Final Fantasy XIV's rebirth has been a success, as Square Enix announces that the game has more than 1.5 Million registered users.
Final Fantasy XIV launched in 2012 and players did not like the game. The game was temporarily shut down to receive a major overhaul and relaunched in August of this year with the new A Realm Reborn subtitle.
With more than 1.5 million registered users, it seems like like Square Enix made the right decision. For the full press release on the impressive numbers announcement, head to page two.
Our TakeI'm sure it wasn't an easy decision when Square Enix decided to shut down Final Fantasy XIV to fix the game. It would have been nice if the game didn't release with its myriad issues and shortcomings, but it seems like players are much happier with the game, even if it still had a few hiccups.

Well, that was unexpected.
Great to see them recovering. It's a great mmo.
Good for Realm Reborn. Still waiting to jump in myself, but it's not possible without cash money :P
Hope this sticks around, and I also hope that Eorzea will become an established Final Fantasy universe. I'd love to see a single player FF game take place in this world; it's the best blend of Japanese anime artistry and western fantasy we've seen in a Final Fantasy since pre-Final Fantasy 7. I want to see this kind of aesthetic more often in Square's biggest franchise.
I did like what I played of its Beta and it always did look like the reboot that the game needed. Maybe this bodes well for Square Enix's chances with FF XV.
I hope this lands on Xbox One. ( since Microsoft is allowing for cross-platform for Xbox One now! ) I been looking at youtube videos of Final Fantasy XIV! It looks good!
I really wish that I had the money and the time for this. I had a month free when I first got it, and it really was a very solid experience -- definitely had the Final Fantasy feel. I miss it, but I like having free time and money more. Ahhhh!
It's a great game with an absolutely toxic user base. My advice if you're thinking about taking the plunge? Do it with some friends.
I have zero interest in playing this, however I'm very stoked that SE is doing good on this! I was hoping they'd have some kind of hit soon, and it looks like this is definitly helping out. I don't want SE to go out of business, even if they have been making mistakes. Now if only Capcom can keep their heads above water...
This is a great game.
My biggest complaint is the UI settings are local. So macros and action bars have to be updated when change Computers or to the PS3.
Only complaint with the PS3 is that it cannot handle some of the larger open world fights. I am looking forward to playing on the PS4 in Feb.
I played through a good bit of the beta on the PS3 and I loved this game. Unfortunately I didn't get it on the PS3, but once it lands on PS4 next year, I'll definitely be picking it up day 1. Square really did an amazing job in fixing that trash up into an amazing MMO.
Not even I have or play this game. :(
I was really disappointed I couldn't pay for my monthly fee with a Playsation Prepaid Card...
