The lights are on
According to an announcement on Twitter, Rod Fergusson – one of the minds behind the Gears of War series – is launching a new studio in the San Francisco Bay area for 2K Games.
Fergusson's tweet doesn't give more details than that, but promises more information soon.
Last we heard of him, Fergusson was leaving Irrational Games after helping finish BioShock Infinite. Before that, he was a guiding force behind Epic Games' Gears of War as the studio's director of production. He also enjoys train simulations.
When reached for a comment on the situation, a representative from 2K Games told Game Informer: “We are happy to confirm that Rod is heading up a new development studio, but we have no further announcements at this time.”
Our TakeFergusson is certainly one of the best and brightest minds out there in the development community, so this is great news. The announcement alone is exciting, but it will be even better when we know more about the studio and the projects it will develop.

Good :D Now where is that Mafia 3 announcement? :D
This is pretty awesome. I have a lot of respect for him and he has a great mind for games. I look forward to seeing what his studio does going forward.
He's deserving of it. Hopefully what they make will match, or at the very least, come close to his past works.
AHA! So that's what he was up to!
sweet, I will probably support his studio. I hope he makes a competitor to gears of war. That'd be too great

Well, this certainly is exciting news!
Well, 2K is rak'in the money to do just this. Best of luck to 'em.
I wonder what he has a mind to create...
I find his apparent lack of eyebrows disturbing
