The lights are on
Here's a glimmer of good news for (would-be) Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn players. Sony is issuing full refunds to some of the people affected by the game's troubled relaunch, which included login issues, server overloads, and more.
According to a post on Europe's PlayStation Blog, players in regions including Australia, New Zealand, and Great Britain are entitled to complete refunds of the game's digital versions, either the standard or collector's edition, if they were downloaded on August 27 or 28. The refund will happen automatically. In addition, the game will remain in each player's download history, meaning that those affected players can reinstall it again at no additional cost.
We've reached out to Sony to see if North Americans can expect a similar refund and will update this story when we get a response.

Our TakeOnce again, Sony shows that it knows how to handle a situation. Square Enix offered players a free week of game time for their troubles, but at this point I'd imagine a fair number of people have moved on. The refund is a perfect solution, in that it not only puts the cash back into customers' virtual wallets, but it leaves the door open to playing the game again once things settle down.

the game works. getting in was hit and miss the first week, but no problems since patch this week. it's fun, did first couple instance dungeons and had a blast.
Eh Tuesday's maintenance fixed all the login problems, so I don't know whats the point of the refund at this time. It would've been justifiable before said maintenance, but now is pointless because you can play normally, so I doubt most people will even care about getting a refund anymore and will keep playing.
I wanted to play this one but I can't find it in the stores and I can't download it right now. FFXIV is catching a break in that there isn't much else out there right now but who knows when something else will come along and the window of opportunity will pass?
I'm glad to see Sony is taking SOME responsability, however even with the log-in problems this game is simply incredible.
These types of problems are common for MMOs. It's good to see Sony offering refunds. But never expect no issues when MMOs launch. History proves this.
login issues wont make me not play this game. iv been waiting for this ever since they shut it down. i can wait a couple more days no bigie. i have played it when i did log on, and its an awesome game. there's a reason why so many people wana play this. simply because its epic
