The lights are on
In an announcement that we can safely file under "no surprise" following a story out of San Diego Comic-Con, Square Enix president for the Americas and Europe Phil Rogers has confirmed the development of a Tomb Raider sequel for next generation consoles and PC. The reboot, which was released early in 2013, sees Lara Croft on her first adventure.
News of the sequel first emerged thanks to comic writer Gail Simone, who mentioned that her work will lead directly into the next game. Given Square Enix's disappointment with Tomb Raider's sales (which still managed to outsell every previous entry in the series), a follow-up wasn't a sure thing.
We liked Lara's last (first) adventure quite a lot, and it will be interesting to see where her journey takes her.

Our TakeI loved Tomb Raider, and was disappointed in Square Enix's reaction to the sales. Another title (perhaps with no tacked-on multiplayer and a reigned in budget) is great news.
Email the author Mike Futter, or follow on Google+, Twitter, and Game Informer.
No more money from me to Square Enix, after they laid off great team which made Tomb Rider for us, which we liked so much.
I just hope the HairFX is included in the next gen console versions! It looks so awesome on PC. :D Especially after the Nvidia driver update that made it not cut the framerate in half when the camera was close to her head.
I'm glad Tomb Raider is getting a next-gen sequel. This is some great news.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES! *** YEAAH!
YES! This is fantastic news.
I really hope they ditch the useless MP, they already got the combat down with the reboot now all they need to do is focus on putting tombs.
Can't wait til black Friday to pick this up (the first one that is)
Goods news for fans of the game. I still need to try it out, but I've heard good things
I would be delighted to play another adventure in Lara's shoes, however if Square Enix deems that further exceptional sales numbers aren't high enough I would have to be a little disappointed.
Please be more like the old Tomb Raiders and less like Uncharted.
I really need to play the first one. I'm glad I can look forward to a sequel!
