The lights are on
Twitch has just announced that Steam users will be able to link accounts on the two platforms. At first glance this seems like a modest convenience, but for Dota 2 players, it's significant.
Previously, Dota 2 fans had to choose between watching on Twitch and DotaTV, possibly missing out on in-game items. By going to the Connections page of your Twitch account, you'll be able to initiate the link and avoid having to make a painful viewing decision ever again.
As for where this partnership might go, Kevin Lin, COO of Twitch tells us, “As for future Steam-related offerings, this first step of implementing Steam Connect opens up a lot of possibilities for us, and we're excited to continue exploring other opportunities.”
Our TakeRight now the benefits that are offered by Dota 2 don't exist in many titles (Smite is one), but Twitch has been on the leading edge of one of the biggest trends in the industry (and you can check out Game Informer's channel).
Streaming took off and is pervasive thanks in part to that company's effort. This partnership could just as easily incentivize more developers to find ways to maximize the benefit of streaming and viewing, thereby organically generating word of mouth and longevity for their titles.

That is cool I guess. Hopefully that goes over well.
That's very cool, especially for DOTA 2 players.
Oh ok that's great.
oh this will be fun....oh yes this will be fun... glad they did this, now I can utilize my steam account with watching twitch 18 hrs a day :) I like it.
That would be a good start.
Maybe i could use this for blacklight. Even if not, cool all the same. The world will be able to watch my butt get kicked soon enough.
Sweet stuff, especially with the International 3 coming in less then a month with the largest prize pool in esports history, Let's go Na'Vi :)
Can't wait until it's implemented into TF2 eventually.
That is cool, i play it a lot.But i don't see much coverage on it outside of dota 2 sites
I'd like to see this happen more often across the board with other games too.
