The lights are on
Last month Double Fine announced another Kickstarter, something completely separate from the adventure game, Broken Age. Massive Chalice, a tactical strategy PC game in the vein of Final Fantasy Tactics, and it looks like gamers want it because the campaign has overflowed with support.
The initial goal of Massive Chalice was $725,000. The Kickstarter campaign topped out at $1,229,015 with 31,774 backers when the countdown ended today at 4:00 pm central. Double Fine posted no stretch goals for Massive Chalice, but says there will be “ongoing conversations with the community as new features are considered…”
The next step is for project lead Brad Muir, creator of Iron Brigade (formerly titled Trenched), to guide his team at Double Fine into development.
"If I can get sappy for a moment I’d like to thank each and every one of you for believing in Double Fine," says Muir. "Tim [Schafer] has created a wonderful, crazy place where anyone can get a chance to bring their ideas for games to life. I never dreamed that I would be here, pitching a new game directly to gamers. The faith and trust that you guys have shown in us is completely overwhelming. You’re amazing. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to make another video game."
While we wait for the imaginative studio to work on the game, why not check out the extensive developer round table below?

Suh-weet. Eager to try this game when it comes out. I like the premise of being able to make a legendary lineage of heroes and pass stuff on through the generations.
They always shoot over the Kickstarter goals they make.
I'm so happy to have backed this, I'm excited to see this game come out and watch it grow.
Yep, and there will be a Sharkey bloodline in the game, hehe! ^_^
Huh,a hour long roundtable.. add that to watch later
I think we knew it would exceed since the day it was announced.
Looking forward to this game. It reminded me of Growlanser Generations (which I loved) taken to the next level.
How doubly fine this sounds. Now we need DF to remake KOTOR and kickstart it. ;-) Like that would happen, not for lack of wanting it to.
I hope that this Double Fine game does really good, or at least better than Brutal Legend, which was a great game, but didn't make that much money.
This looks like one of the most interesting games to come out in years. I can't wait.
Wish 'em luck.
Good for them! They deserve it!
This game sounds awesome. First kickstarter project I've gotten excited about.
what blows me away with this whole game is how they dont have a game.
its only an idea and they made over a million for it.
Double Fine doesnt have the greatest of track records. Thats putting way too much faith into a game thats only on paper.
Which is why i withdrew my backer status and gave it all to Armikrog.
Hearing some of the guys behing this like brad mueir talk about about it really gets me excited, blending some awesome genres for something that sounds unique
