The lights are on
Next week, most of the Game Informer team will be covering E3 from Los Angeles. Before we descend into madness, we're going to celebrate the weekend with achievement hunting, zombies, and some time outdoors.
Andrew Reiner: My weekend begins with that horrible Star Trek game. I don't know why (achievements), but I feel I need to complete it (really easy achievements). Next up on my stack is Remember Me, followed by State of Decay. I'm also going to plow through all of Breaking Bad: Season 5 on Blu-ray. On my flight to E3, I'm playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf and reading as many New 52 books as I can.
Jeff Cork: E3 is coming in a few days, in case you forgot. For that week, nearly every interaction I have will be focused around video games. I’m going to spend my brief weekend outside.
Kimberley Wallace: E3 is upon us, so I'm going to be spending this weekend packing and prepping for it. I’m looking forward to surprise announcements, hoping something I wasn’t expecting in the RPG realm pops up. I'm also trying to finish Metro: Last Light before I fly out for E3. Other than that, I'll be watching the Blackhawks game on Saturday. Hopefully, they put away the Kings, so I don't have to check my phone like a crazy girl during E3 for scores. Happiness is the Blackhawks winning the cup.
Ben Hanson: After finishing up the excellent Gunpoint and Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, this weekend I hope to dive into State of Decay. I've heard some mixed opinions on the game, but I'm in the mood for some stupid open-world fun and the zombie/survival angle adds a nice twist. Outside of that, I'm going to continue playing Ron Gilbert's new match-three game on iOS called Scurvy Scallywags. I've played it for an hour or so and am really impressed, it is much better and much deeper than I imagined.
Mike Futter: On my six hour flight to E3 from New Jersey, I'll have some time to catch up on some portable titles. I've been meaning to dive back into Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon (if only to hear his triumphant, 'I did it!'). Animal Crossing: New Leaf is waiting for me on my 3DS, also. On my Vita (yes, I still have it and I'm bringing it to E3), I just picked up Soul Sacrifice. I hear good things, and I'm interested to see how it plays. Finally, my iPad is home to Warhammer Quest and an as-yet unannounced title that has been captivating me.
I might not get much gaming done at E3, but my trip there is covered.
Matt Akers: I’m finally getting around to playing the Assassin’s Creed series. Just got my copy in the mail for Xbox. I also borrowed a friend’s DS for the summer, so I hope to finish 999 and get started on Pokémon Pearl. I may sleep some, too.
Brian Albert: Our review of State of Decay wasn’t shining, but I’m still going to check it out. Liz might continue her playthrough of L.A. Noire, so if she does I'll hang out and watch her destroy the beautiful city with her, um, spectacular driving skills. If I have extra time, I want to check out Scurvy Scallywags and Gunpoint.
I'll be enjoying the sunny Saturday day by going to the National Wildlife Refuge not far from my house - bird watching is a lot more fun than it seems. Also, I might play some Castle Crashers with my bro later. And I hope to finish up another playthrough of Fable.
Having finished up my eighth BL2 playthrough earlier this week, I am taking a break from games for the most part this weekend. I will be putting in some time to build up some eridium for a couple of my characters in anticipation of the upcoming dlc. Other than that, I will relaxing mostly and working.
I'm feeling pretty good now that I've finished Catherine, so I'm hoping to work on a few backlogged games of mine, namely Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
Of course, I'll also be playing Sims 3, since my characters are getting into some serious romantic drama.
Finishing up Knights of the Old Republic, bumming after the Penguins loss, and probably some Borderlands 2 and Shadow of the Colossus.
Playing RDR, F1 Championship; Spec Ops(2x thru).
I just started up Uncharted 3 for the first time last night. It's been sitting in my backlog for almost a year now, just sitting on the shelf staring at me. The upcoming release of The Last of Us has motivated me to finally finish the Uncharted trilogy. I'm also still playing Dragon's Dogma, but I had to put down Dark Souls for a little while. And my wife and I are starting up a game of Civ V together tonight, if we can ever agree on a map (got a second copy on sale a couple days ago).
This weekend's my last one before school finally lets out for me, so aside from frantically studying for finals, I'll be trying to finish up some bits and pieces of my "To do List" for the backlog. Beating the Force Unleashed II's Unleashed mode, trying to make it at least half-way through Luigi's Mansion 2 before Animal Crossing comes out this Sunday, and wrapping up Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force, game are all on the agenda with varying hopes of success before the E3 news storm. I may also dare risk another Lego project, but we'll see what my schedule's like. Cheers to summer!
P.S. : Mr. Akers, good for you. If you start with the 1st entry, don't be disappointed. II fixes just about everything. Good luck with assassinating Templars in between E3 coverage!
I finally broke away from Defiance for a while, I was really putting some time into the game and thought I'd go back to some other games of mine, something with a solid story. I've been playing Dead Space 3 on game plus mode (awesome game) especially when all the lights are out and the surround is on, gets my heart going every time. I also just downloaded Tomb Raider from XBOX Live so I will probably start that tonight sometime. Just got home from seeing After Earth and I must say that it was a pretty good movie. Oh also I can't wait for The Last of Us next week I'm so excited. Oh and E3 also, hope they show a bunch of bad*ss games off using the new hardware.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and God of War: Chains of Olympus HD platinum chase before The Last of Us. Wish me luck!
