The lights are on
J.J. Abrams may be traveling to a galaxy far, far away in the near future, but not before he and his team at Bad Robot release two new Star Trek projects. The wait for Abrams' second Star Trek film Into Darkness is almost over, but fans don't have to wait to jump back into his vision of the 23rd century. Developer Digital Extremes teamed up with Bad Robot and Paramount Pictures to create new story that reintroduces a classic Trek alien menace.
The game follows Kirk and Spock and is designed with cooperative play in mind, although it can still be played single player. Ben Reeves joined me for a look at the opening moments of this new Star Trek tale. We opted to play single player, but Ben is quick to point out how cooperative play works for the environment puzzles we encounter. Sit back and enjoy the ride, folks. Ben's review will be on the site in the coming days.

It actually doesn't look too bad. I'll have to give it a rent and see if I can blast through it with a friend.
Hate to sound too bro-ish here, but I'm interested in seeing some more gunplay. The running around and co-op puzzles just don't seem enticing at all, and the rough edges seem to be holding it back. Like Ben suggested, probably a great rental with a friend, but maybe not worth much else unless you're a big fan. At least we know the movie is gonna rock. :D
Eh this is a tie-in meant to give you that whole "go see the movie" feeling, so from that perspective, doesn't really matter about the graphics or gameplay. The Star Trek stamp is enough to push rentals and sales, then movie tickets and Cosplay outfits lol.
When they opened that door together it totally reminded me of "The Ambiguously Gay Duo" from SNL lol.
Another great Test Chamber. The graphics don't look the greatest, but the gameplay looks promising.
As interesting as the gameplay is, I still have low expectations for this, so I'll be pleasantly surprised if it doesn't absolutely tank.
This actually looks kinda cool. It's next on my to do list. I just have to find some way to drag myself away from Terraria.
Still dreaming of a Star Trek game made by Bioware with the same love that they put into the Mass Effect series.
I've been playing it since I got, and I love it!!!
Looks pretty impressive for a movie tie-in. Might think about this one if it's on sale.
Immediately, I just wanna say how funny it is that the main menu has such stirring music from the film... and they play it over video of the crew, with their back turned to you, doing nothing interesting:) Should've just showed the Enterprise flying through space, passing majestic views of planets and nebulae and stuff if you ask me. Missed opportunity no.1 Digital Extremes - you can do better!
wow looks better than i expected i might get this
From what I've seen so far, It looks really good. Playing in the Star Trek universe in co-op is going to be a blast. If the combat is as good as this opening scene it will be alot of fun. Explore the Enterprise, fight the Gorn, and save the universe. Feels like Star Trek to me.
The graphics are fine.
Gameplay is pretty solid, if nothing Earth-Shattering.
Story is good and the writers have nailed the crew chemistry.
I like it. As a game in its own right at this point I'd give it a 7.00.
As a movie tie-in title, considering what that genre generally consists of, it's a bloody masterpiece.
bad graphics, but that doesn't really matter to me not bad, great renta;
