The lights are on
Since our announcement of Skylanders Swap Force, new details have emerged on the pricing of the next installment of the Skylanders series.
Now available for pre-order, the starter pack's suggested retail price is set for $74.99. Those who reserve a pack will receive a free toy upon pick-up at participating retailers. Core characters are priced at $9.99 and new swap force characters at $14.99.
With 16 new swap force characters, the tops and bottoms are interchangeable with each other. This allows for 256 unique character combinations that could possibly add replay value to the game. The ability to fly, climb and teleport has also been added.
While the previous characters from Skylanders Spyro's Adventure and Skylanders Giants are still usable in this new iteration, it has been prior confirmed that the portal from older Skylanders sets will not be forward-compatible.
Skylanders Swap Force will be available in North America on October 13, with later release dates of October 16 and October 18 for Australia and Europe, respectively.
But... the last one just came out. I'm all for these kind of games, just not so frequently.
Gaming for kids is getting really expensive. Yikes!
but it seems everywhere i come across these its on clearance
I'm Glad I'm not super into this; my backlog is pretty long already, and I don't have that kind of cash.
Anybody know about the preorder bonuses? I know Amazon has the lightcore Hex, but what about other stores?
Activision seriously is milking the Skylanders series. Why can't you guys just make a true Spyro game? I have one on my GBA and just love that game. I also got one on my GameCube from GameStop for free as one of their promotions for buying GameCube games, but I never actually played it. XD
This is gonna be epic! On opposite day.
Look i love Skylanders but... They keep raising the prices higher and higher... I'm kinda done...
They are ripping people off.
I hope that, when Activision and Vicarious Visions get around to rebooting Crash Bandicoot, it's just gonna be a nice, cheap, straightforward (and faithful) downloadable title. Spyro's Skylanders experiment paid off nicely for them, and I'm glad it was so successful for Toys for Bob, an underrated studio if ever there was one. But Jesus Christ; this is expensive. Not to mention, Skylanders is a new IP; it's not a new Spyro.
At least Swap Force re-introduces jumping to the **** series. IT'S ABOUT TIME.
Everyone hop aboard the milk train!
Man this is getting to be sickening. After working the launch of Giants with all these rabid 10 year olds and sheltered collectors attacking them like walkers to a human being i can safely same im glad i got out of retail.
I hate the complaints without merit. Skylanders are not a ripoff and why? Because as always Activision cannot force anyone to make any purchase they don't want. Ripoffs only occur when the item is purchased not when the price is set or item made available.
