Lionhead Teases Fable Remake

by Mike Futter on Jun 04, 2013 at 01:08 AM

Just yesterday we reported that Lionhead was beefing up its Fable forums. The timing caught our attention, with E3 less than a week away. Now, we have an idea of why the community pages got an overhaul.

The developer has issued a new tease hinting that it has heard fan cries. Fable, which originally appeared on the Xbox to much fanfare, seems to be headed for an HD remake. We also infer that The Lost Chapters content, released on PC and Xbox (as an expanded retail version), will be included.

However, there might very well be more. Jack of Blades, the antagonist from the original Fable, talks of being gone for so long and making his return. We wouldn't be surprised if the timing of an HD release reveal coincides with an E3 announcement for a new title in the series in which Jack of Blades returns to Albion. If it were a true sequel in the series (and not a spinoff like Fable Heroes or Kinect title like The Journey), it would be the first without Peter Molyneux.

Molyneux founded a new studio, 22 Cans, which recently was in the news at the completion of the Curiosity cube and announcement of a new phase in the development of its next title, Godus.
