The lights are on
Bethesda Softworks released a new sceenshot today on Twitter of Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami's next project, "The Evil Within." The survival horror game was announced last week,
The new screenshot shows a standoff between a character and one deadly enemy, look at all those limbs...and blood. The backdrop looks promising and the lighting is perfect for tension, as seen below.
What do you think of the latest screen? Are you excited for The Evil Within, or do you have reservations? In a generation where most survival horror has been abandoned for action and flash, I'm excited to see what Mikami creates, especially since the tweet paints the game as, "embodying the meaning of pure survival horror." We'll have to wait and see exactly what that means as more details roll out.
The Evil Within has no set release date, but is scheduled for 2014 to hit the PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and nex-gen consoles.

My body is ready.........
"How do we top the horror of silent hill that is PYRAMID HEAD!?" "I GOT IT!!!! CUBE FACE!!!! OH OH AND GLASS MAN!!!". :D
I'm definately excited for this game!
That screenshot alone makes me want to buy it.
I'll be keeping an eye out on this one.
Man! She looks gross and scary!
It looks pretty good. And if Bethesda is a partner in it, its going to be good.
I'm excited to see someone is finally giving the Survival Horror Genre some love again! Here's to hoping it starts a resurgence of it on the next gen systems. I was a Resident Evil Fan from the beginning, up until 5 when it became action focused, glad to see Shinji Mikami being the man to attempt this. I'll be picking this up, no doubt about it.
Looks like the janitor of this place has a tough job.
this one shot just sold me on it fer sure.. the use of lighting in this crazy dark room looks awesome, you can't see the details of whatever creature that is but you know it can see you...can't wait.
Wow, that looks pretty graphic.
looks awesome! but i wish it was first person.
The survival horror game I have been waiting for!
Looks eerily amazing! Can't wait to play this!
I think I'll keep a spare pair of underwear on hand when playing this game. I'm pretty sure I'll need them.
Am I the only one who can't see the photo? Regardless, I'm very interested in this game. Though I'll probably wait to get it until I have a next gen console.
now this has me excited. That live action trailer was lame. Can't wait for some rendered and actual gameplay footage.
A lost child looking for its dad!!!
I'm almost as pumped for this as I am for Arkham Origins.
