The lights are on
The ever watchful Superannuation has shared his latest finds with Kotaku. Included with hints of a Rare title for the next Xbox and a possible new title from DJ Hero's FreeStyle Games, the sleuth found out that BioWare has brought on two Kingdoms of Amalur alumni.
Colin Campbell and Ian Frazier, who served as lead world designer and lead designer respectively, will be trading bows for biotics. The two have been brought on as lead level designer and lead gameplay designer for the next Mass Effect title. Additionally, we know via Canada.com that Mac Walters, lead writer of Mass Effect 3, is currently working on the next chapter of epic franchise.
Email the author Mike Futter, or follow on Google+, Twitter, and Game Informer.
I loved Amalur and the design was amazing. I will be interested to see what they bring to the game.
My first thought when I saw the title of the article was that BioWare bought the KOA IP. Oh well, this is still good news.
Kingdoms of Amalur Effect 4.5: The BioWare Saga. ;-)
Really? AWESOME!!!! Kingdom of Aralur was a good game. It had a lot of things going for it. Should have been better but it did everything right for a first game. Hope that Bioware slaughters the first with the second title.
Can't wait for a new generation of Mass Effect. Commander Shepard was awesome and will be missed.
KoA is definitely an under-appreciated gem of game, especially in the wake of the 38 Studios controversy. A lot of talented developers were cheated out of some well-deserved recognition because of all that. I'm glad to see these guys land at Bioware working on Mass Effect, hopefully they can bring some of the interesting ideas from KoA into ME too.
P.S. As I've said a few times before: Bioware...please no prequels.
Please space battles make it happen!
Lead Gameplay designer? Well, at least the combat will be fun in the next Mass Effect. Not saying it wasn't fun before, but the combat was really fun in Amalur. They still have the same Mass Effect 3 writer.. I wonder if anybody is going to complain about that...
Sorry EA-ware but Im done with mass effect.Im more intrested in DA3.I can only HOPE and PRAY you dont screw it up like DA2.And for the love of your fans if you want this so called mass effect game to succed keep casey dudson FAR FAR AWAY from it.
For the next Mass Effect game I'd really like to be able to play as a hand to hand combat biotic class. Like allowing the ability to not use a gun and use a combination of martial arts and biotics like Thane. I'd love combat system that was basically like the Batman Arkham games with biotic powers.
I'd much rather see an Amalur sequel, but that's never going to happen.
