SimCity Modded For Offline Play
SimCity has been criticized for its demand that players be always connected online to play the game, and now a modder has found a way to play it offline.
UKAzzer has accessed the game's debug mode, which allows him to play the game indefinitely offline, among other things. Usually the game has a disconnect timer for offline play. While the modder's experience isn't without its drawbacks (to save, you have to reconnect to the server), it could be proof that SimCity could have included an offline single-player mode if Maxis and EA so desired.
This bolsters the claim of an anonymous Maxis developer who recently challenged claims from his company that it was necessary for the game to require an online connection.
