The lights are on
Eidos Montreal has been working for years to reboot the classic
stealth series Thief, and the fruits of its labor will finally be revealed
in issue 240 of Game Informer Magazine.
Our April cover story is a world-exclusive look at this next-generation stealth title. Series hero Garrett returns to the
Gothic, industrial metropolis known simply as the City to steal any and
everything that will make him richer. Unfortunately, the City is broiling with social tension as it is ravaged by a plague and lorded over by a political tyrant known as the Baron. In order to survive his adventures, Garrett will have to pay attention to his environment and make use of the may possible paths through each of the game's levels.
Square Enix plans to release Thief for PS4 and PC sometime in 2014, but the game is also planned for other next-gen consoles. Check out our coverage trailer for a taste of all the
content you can look forward to absorbing over the next month.
Also in the issue, we take a look at Sony's PlayStation 4 as well as
Bungie's follow up to Halo, a new sci-fi series called Destiny. We also
research the harsh realities of mobile development and learn about the challenges small teams face when making a game. Ubisoft let us check out its new pirate game, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. We poke fun at the entire industry
with our annual Game Infarcer feature, and then take an exclusive look
at Trion Worlds and Syfy's MMO/TV show experiment Defiance. It's a lot
of content, but don't forget to check out our classic feature on
Pitfall, or our previews of The Last of Us, Remember Me, and Grid 2.
It's a meaty issue; you're welcome.

NEW THIEF - MY LIFE IS COMPLETE - I CAN DIE HAPPY AFTER I PLAY IT
Nevver got a chance to play the others. Really looking forward to giving this one a shot.
That is in fact cool. Thief was in fact a great game. It did stealth base game play right. It set the standards that other games improved on and others failed to do. Thief deserves a reboot big time as the current graphical field we have now. They can do some crazy stuff they only could barely dream about doing with the first Thief games.
Only question now. How badly will they mess it up? We hope they don't.
I can't wait to finally jump into this series; I'm ashamed to say that I've never played any of the Thief games, especially considering I'm such a huge stealth fan. Hopefully this issue will also have the BioShock Infinite review.
Man, I live 30 minutes away from their offices. I'm already sold. They did such a wonderful job with Deus Ex that I'm pretty sure Thief will be awesome. Day one for me.
Awesome cover art
The main character looks like a Nightinggale from Skyrim.
Thief two was one of my fondest titles from that era. I played it multiple times over a period of years.
YES YES AND YES!
Awesome. I feel like Thief could take a lot from games such as Assassin's Creed for combat, Witcher for narrative, and Dishonored for abilities and world.
I keep hearing about how awesome and classic this franchise is. Cannot wait to play this so I can understand and join the conversations as to why this franchise is such a classic.
I've never played Thief, but this game sure sounds awesome.
Beautiful cover! Look forward to reading this when it comes in! =)
