The lights are on
Back in July 2012, Sony announced that it had acquired streaming-content service Gaikai. Shuhei Yoshida, Sony president of worldwide studios, provided a bit of insight about what that partnership could offer in the future, including the potential of a subscription model.
Yoshida said in an interview with the Guardian that the prevalence of digitally distributed content allows Sony to examine how they get games into players' hands. "So hypothetically we can look at different models – like a cable TV company," he said. "We could have gold, silver or platinum levels of membership, something like that. We can do subscription services when we have more content – especially now that we have the Gaikai technology available. With one subscription you have access to thousands of games – that's our dream.
It sounds a lot like a refined and expanded version of the PlayStation Plus service that's currently available. Considering that PlayStation Plus didn't release until about four years after the PS3's launch, there's plenty of time for Sony to figure out the specifics, if the company even decides to explore this model further.
We also interviewed Yoshida at the PS4 event about PS4 and Vita interoperability, the new camera, and more. Check out that interview here.

They already have Playstation Plus which is a great service worth paying for. Why add to the plan or divvy it up? They should just adapt a streaming model into it at the same price because games make money through demand AND access. Provide easier access and the demand increases.
Oh boy, because cable companies never screw you over...
So, I'm getting is that they're trying to make a streamable Gamefly. I pay $10 a month and stream anygame I want from thousands of choices? If that is the case, I will be for this as long as it's the only thing I pay for.
Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope.
Yeah, and my nightmare. No thank you.
So long as it is a part of PS+ I'm game
As long as they don't go the LIVE route and charge to do things like Netflix and play multiplayer I'm fine with it. PS+ is an incredible service that gives me games I never would've purchased otherwise. Just keep it smart Sony.
Better make it worth the money...
As long as they make it worth the money and still give people the freedom to things without payment, like play multiplayer, I think this will be fine.
So instead of buying individual games, those that we like and those that we don't,we will just have to pay a price every month, and we will be able to play all the games that come out ?
Not my dream. More streaming = more $$$ for Sony = less $$$ for me. . .
As long as it stays like Ps Plus to where it's an OPTION and not mandatory, then i'm fine with it. If i want to subscribe for additional content then I will, but i don't want to be forced to just be able to connect online and play with others online.
As long as they don't charge for Internet then I'm fine with it.
