Report: PS4 Launches In November With $429 And $529 Models

Tomorrow, Sony will be making a big announcement that many speculate will include the company’s next console. New developments have been trickling out regarding the upcoming presentation, including something called PlayStation Cloud and pictures of the supposed new controller. Now an anonymous source tells Kotaku that the PlayStation 3 successor will also be controllable via your phone and have two models to choose from when it releases this November.

The source says that the models at the supposed November launch are priced at $429 and $529, which could change. They also claim that similarly to the Xbox 360s SmartGlass app, users will be able to use their phones to control the console, download games to the system, and chat with friends.

  • Five hundred and twenty-nine US dollars!
  • Odd numbers, but sure, why not...
  • As long as they leave facebook out of the whole sharing whatsits, I'm happy. Phones to control the console though... I thought that was what the controller was for. I just want to play games!
  • I would be willing to pay that much. If the content is worth playing.
  • Grr, the $529 model is probably gonna come with the only decent amount of memory between the two, plus whatever good add-ones they sell for the system. Enough with these darned phones! Gimme games! Games I say! And affordable ones!
  • That pricing isn't much of a stretch from the original PS3's, they should have at least had a version in the $300 price range
  • Well, it's $70 bucks cheaper, eh? Than 3 anyway... I guess that's kinda a step in the right direction...

  • Once again, unless it comes from Sony I'm not believing it, but that price wouldn't be too bad. I wonder if the only difference would be HDD size, which hopefully would be like a TB big as a standard.
  • My wallet just had a heart attack.
  • I'm not surprised.

  • Sweet

  • People this price is not set in stone. This is a rumor, dont get your nickers in twist. Not only that, but when you compare it to the WiiU or an Ipad 429-529 doesn't seem like a bad deal. Not when you get blu-ray, the ability to play games and all of the features you get on an Ipad and more.
  • YEAH!!!!!!cant wait getting it at launch.

  • well I am out! They just lost a customer that fast, but Sony excels at that anyways lol!

I was hoping next-gen consoles would ditch the multiple models in favor of ensuring every gamer has the system. Hopefully the cheaper model isn't missing any important functionality.
  • I will most likely end up waiting until after launch. I need to see firm info on both PS and Xbox, don't feel like buying both.
  • We'll know for sure tomorrow, but I'm waiting anyway so the price doesn't really matter for me right now. I'm interested to see how they differentiate their bundles.

  • November?! BEST. BIRTHDAY PRESENT. EVER!

  • Hmmmm...maaaaaybe I will buy you....maybe.
Wait, my birthday is in the summer...I'll just ask for half of this to be paid as one present. :P
  • Although I won't be getting this for a long time (if ever), I certainly hope that the models aren't too different for the sake of those who do buy it. Personally, I'll wait for Microsoft to show off their new console before making a decision.
