Nintendo Announces Wii Party Sequel

It's been a hell of a day. THQ went under, and Nintendo had a whole lot to reveal. Amidst all the hubbub, let's not forget the most important news item of the day. More Wii Party is coming in the summer.

Not much was revealed during today's Wii U Direct presentation, but skip to the 25:00 mark below if you'd like to see people shake the GamePad to roll dice, contort their fingers to hold a ton of buttons in a confusing-looking minigame, and playing two-player foosball minigames on one Gamepad.

  • Saw the title of this article and then immediately looked at the author. Just as I expected... Dan XD

  • Oh, yay.

  • Your sarcasm is palpable. Funniest headline I've seen in a while!

  • zzzZZZZZZzzzzzz...huh? More Wii Party? Meh. Wake me up when Nintendo gives more information on Yoshi and Monolith Soft's new game. zzzzzzzzzZZZZZZzzz.

  • I actually thought the game wasn't that bad. It was way better than Mario Party 9 and 7.
  • This makes me feel a little better...

  • Okay. How many emails do we need to send to Joe Juba to get a lengthy Test Chamber of this game?
  • This was the best(good) thing announced today. Besides everything else of course. :P
  • Sorry for THQ, hello Nintendo! Can't say that another Wii Party will be a blast, but I'll be interested to see how they experiment with the new controls. Go get 'em Nintendo!

  • Is someone in GI on speed today because today has been nothing but story after story... barely any time to read them. Not that I'm complaining
  • Title made me giggle. Oh Dan, you idiot.

  • Yay! A new Wii Party!

  • WiiParty was a blast to play with me brothers! Playing hide and go seek with the Wii remotes, playing Boardgame island, passing a bomb around the room, and the list goes on! Now I can't wait to see what we'll be doing in this game!

  • Wii party!? You mean the Mario Party game without the charm of mario that nobody bought last year or the year before?!

  • Yay, best news of the year!  Screw Fire Emblem and Mario and Yoshi and Pokemon - we got virtual parties with minigames!

  • Lolno.

  • .. this was the only news i seen watching the nintendo direct that i when .......why -_- ... to.   honestly the first game was crap , specially compared to mario party  altho mario party 9 was crummy :/

  • Too bad GI got rid of the sales charts, so now they won't be able to mock it like they did Wii Play.
  • ...It's like having a new start with reasonable sales and good expectations isn't enough for them, they HAVE to remind us why we hated the wii. While Nintendo's party games are at least subpar, this just opens a very ugly, smelly door. Here comes the shovel-wareU! I was hoping we'd be over this...
  • "Not much was revealed during today's Wii U Direct presentation [...]". Did we see the same thing Dan? I thought there was a lot of exciting things on display, least not the HD Wind Waker remake.
