The lights are on
Ubisoft and New Regency are teaming up for a movie adaptation of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell starring Dark Knight Rises and Inception's Tom Hardy in the role of Sam Fisher. This official announcement follows rumors circulating earlier this year.
This is the second partnership between the two companies after the Assassin's Creed film deal starring Michael Fassbender, announced in July.
Ubisoft also revealed the screenwriter on the project, Eric Warren Singer. The writer's resume is brief, with only 2009's The International credited so far. Check out the trailer below.
“For Ubisoft Motion Pictures, creative control is key and New Regency shares our commitment to respecting the creative freedom of our team," chief executive officer of Ubisoft Motion Pictures Jean-Julien Baronnet says in a statement. "Their ability to produce both blockbusters and intriguing indie hits is an ideal fit for the Splinter Cell franchise.”
Ubisoft has not revealed a projected release date for the film at this time.

I love Tom Hardy. I love his character in Inception.
oh~ interesting
Still waiting on a World of Warcraft film.
This actually wasn't a bad casting move at all
It will be interesting to see how this turns out.
The shadows betray you, because they belong to me!
In all honesty you can't get much better with Tom Hardy in this role. He is a little more beefed up but with his rising talent he could bring the role to a whole new level.
Not a bad actor choice to play Sam Fisher. Here's hoping for a halfway decent movie adaptation.
Tom Hardy is the new Mad Max, too. Pretty psyched for Fury Road!
Yay for Tom Hardy! Boo for singer! The international blew chunks
Has nobody seen warrior? That was an incredible performance! One of my favorites! The sheer brutality in that movie set him up perfectly for the dark knight rises. Interesting choice for sam though as he is an older character. But i won't doubt tom hardy as he is my favorite actor currently.
Hopefully these movies turn out good. I enjoy both actors.
