Looks Like Dragon Age III Is Next Gen After All

Not that it should come as a surprise, but it appears Dragon Age III: Inquisition is actually in development for the still-unannounced next-generation consoles from Sony and Microsoft.

Internet sleuth Superannuation spotted a LinkedIn profile of EA Shanghai level designer Tao Gu that stated, "Scope of the DAIII has been chaged [sic], which will target next gen platform [sic] and will be postpone [sic] to 2014."

EA officially announced the game in September 2012 for unknown platforms. It's scheduled to launch in late 2013.

  • Well I'm actually kinda glad it is. This just means it has an even greater potential.
  • I kinda hope that they release it on PC first at least... this wait for a decent Dragon Age game is killing me!
  • Not necessarily a big surprise, I guess--though I think, financially, it'd fare better as a big closing title for this generation. This will be a huge game with a small potential audience in 2014.

Granted, that's the risk every developer runs with new consoles.
  • Yes!! I hope they push the limits with DA3.
  • We all knew they existed, but this is the first game we know of for the 8th gen, right?
  • hopefully it'll feature real time combat in an open world.
  • Noooo! Are you kidding me?! How are we supposed to transfer our save data from the last two games?
  • Well, that's neat. I wonder if the next Mass Effect game will also be next-gen, given that it probably won't be directly connected to the other games.
  • 2014? Crap. I hate waiting. Hope this means it'll be really good then.
  • So that means that the new consoles are most likely coming by the end of next year, yes? Although, I'd expect it to be delayed at least once. Still, I don't want to hear anything about this game - no concept art, none of that. Just give me something that proves you care.
  • im hoping that this means next gen consoles wont be releasing till 2014. Mostly because there is almost no way i will have money for a new 400+ dollar system and games for said system before then.
  • After the huge step backwards that Dragon Age II took. I don't really care what 'gen' it is. I have no intentions on buying it. Bioware is poison for game releases now, yet another integrated company within EA.
  • does that mean the consoles will be unveiled at the next E3? Granted we all knew they were drawing nearer
  • who cares it'll still be hot garbage
  • Launch title? Even if it isn't, hopefully it doesn't end up as buggy as Oblivion.
  • good  now they have more time to work on it so hopefully it wont be another rush job like 2 was -_-

  • So it's coming to Wii U without the first two just like mass effect?
  • 1) KOTAKU 2) Doesnt look next gen 3) Draogn age is terrible, everyone from bioware is GONE from what made them good who cares?
  • changed scope sounds almost like it'll be more like dao and less like da2 ... or maybe just better textures, we'll see.

  • I love it when people believe kotaku as fact and then the next day kotaku is proven false like always
