Epic Games Opens Baltimore Studio

Big Huge Games recently went through some turmoil, and Epic Games is doing what it can to help those without jobs.

Epic Games is opening a new studio in Baltimore, Maryland, with the hopes of hiring some out the displaced developers from Big Huge Games who were formerly based in Maryland. There are still a lot of details to work out.

Epic said on its blog, "There’s a million things to work out. How many of the team can we hire? What will it be called? What will they be working on? We don’t know all the answers yet. Please give us some time to figure it out; we hope to have more to share soon."

I'm sure we will have more information soon.

  • I purchased a unicorn mask off Amazon. Pictures will be up in a few days. Also, if anyone's seen my red peppers, I really need them for my cookies and milk seminar tomorrow. Thanks.
  • One of the many reasons Epic is epic. Hope everyone affected recovers ASAP.

  • Its good that Epic Games is helping out now

  • How many studios does Epic Games own? They have ChAIR, the Gears team, and this at least.
  • Good for them! Epic does a lot of good stuff to help out the industry.
  • Epic is well, epic!

  • I can't tell if the people that run Epic are the nicest people in the world or the best business people in the world.
  • This is why I love the video game industry...most of the time.

  • That's an Epic thing to do.

  • That is very kind of Epic. congrats to them for being awesome.

  • Good for Epic, helping out the jobless.

  • Hell yeah! Does this mean they will give games to their friendly neighbors?
  • Good old Epic

  • I think Epic Baltimore or Epic East will be good names. Glad they picked up the studio and saved the people. Now what will happen to 38.....
  • I live in the Baltimore area so this is really cool for me.
  • Glad they're expanding.

  • Glad to see this happening.  I hope it will also help Schilling and 38 Studios.  It would be nice to get him out of Rhode Island if that'll help him at all and maybe get him to work on the sequel to KoA.  God Bless Epic Games!

  • Wow, that's...pretty awesome. For some reason, very few studio closures hit me as hard, personally, as Big Huge's closure did. It just seemed like those guys get bum rushed and railed in the arse just for doing their jobs and doing it well. They had nothing to do with terrible management, yet they paid the price for it.

I hope they can all land on their feet.
