Naughty Dog Co-Founder Becomes THQ President

THQ has had it rough lately. When the going gets rough, changes need to be made. For THQ, a big part of pulling itself up from the financial dredges appears to be appointing Jason Rubin, co-founder of Naughty Dog, as the company’s new president.

Rubin replaces former THQ president Danny Bilson, who’ll be moving on to something new. When he was at Naughty Dog, Rubin helped create the highly successful Crash Bandicoot and Jax and Daxter series. Following his departure from the company in 2004, Rubin co-created Flektor, a media mashup tool.

THQ is down but not out. Hopefully Rubin’s proven leadership and industry experience will help the troubled company find secure footing in its attempt to create successful, AAA games. We wish Mr. Rubin and THQ the best of luck.

  • Yeah?
  • This might be exactly what THQ needs. Naughty Dog has a proven track record of making great games, and a huge part of that is having someone at the helm who is a leader and has a firm grasp of the big picture and how to bring all the details together. Hopefully Rubin can help pull THQ out of its current slump.
  • Please help saints row. The first one was my favorite
  • He could certainly give THQ a comeback. Here's wishing the best of luck to them.

  • That's like going from prime rib to... I don't know... weird brother of prime rib.
  • Wish them all good luck

  • Congrats!
  • Hope this works out.

  • Hopefully this means good things to come for THQ

  • Hm. I like Naughty Dog but I'm not fond of THQ. Maybe Jason can change my opinion.

  • Hopefully, he will create something that will bring the company back up.

  • Best of luck to them all.

  • I been wondering what happened to this guy.  Last I heard from him was a couple years ago in a GI feature where he gave his vision for how he would make an RE game.  Hope for the best for him and THQ.

  • Will this negativley affect Naughty Dog?
  • Jax and Daxter? LOL

  • Does this mean we'll finally get a date for Devil's Third?!

  • I really hope this does something for 'em. I'd hate to see THQ go.

  • THQ... meh. Jason Rubin... oh yeah. Hopefully he helps them get back to their more successful times.

  • "Jak and Daxter"
