The lights are on
EA revealed the active subscribers for Star Wars: The Old Republic has dropped 400,000 since earlier this year.
As part of its quarterly earnings release this afternoon, the publisher said it currently has 1.3 million active subscribers, down from the 1.7 million it reported this past February.
Two content packs, Legacy and Allies, will be available in the following months.
They should have just made KOTOR 3
Hmmm, I wonder where all the "its going kill WoW finally, yay!!!!" screamers are now....
Oh wait, they probably flocked to Terra to do the same, and from there to GW2, and from there they will flock to Elder Scrolls and repeat the pattern until WoW dies of old age, and they claim they were right all along and they called it....
Incoming Alert Diablo 3...
Hope they make free to play...
If you aren't going to make the perfect MMO, don't bother competing with WoW. Guild wars 2 might beat the numbers, it looks good enough, but from what i've seen of star wars it has a long way to go
The bigest problem is that this game is meant to be played, at least, 4 times. It is meant to be played once with each half of the mirror class. And beyond that they were too focused with 8 different stories that they neglected end game material. Take into account also that MMO players are frugal and usually casual, and you have a disaster on your hands.
I played it along side with WoW... And then WoW told me, "It's either me or her, or i'm out!" So I chose the one I've been paying for the most....
Nah joking, I really liked SWTOR! Was lots of fun and I have plans to keep my account, but well... It was sort of 'meh,' for me and i'm sure the same for others.
I am one of those who dropped. They've taken too long to release server transfers, and I managed to choose the lowest population server of the entire game. No one to group with. Got to lvl 28, but until they do server transfers I'm not interested in playing. Also, hope they release more content more frequently.
I really enjoyed my time with SWTOR. However, I don't have the abundance of free time required to play it when I've got Mass Effect 3, Starcraft 2, Skyrim, and soon Diablo 3, all of which have no monthly fee to play.
People are waking up to the fact that it's a expensive Warcraft clone... good job, Bioware.
i think subscribers wouldnt drop it if there friends would get it, it just gets boring without friends in my opinion
wish they did just a few things different and I'd still be playing.. I'll pick it up once it goes free to play.
I'd rather have KOTOR 3, Battlefront 3, and Republic Commando 2. I would have actually bought those.
2 50's, one with best pve and pvp gear, 2nd had him close to it, and 2 alts to 20-30 in 2 months then quit. Nothing in that game took anytime to accomplish. You really didnt even have to leave the fleet to get to max lvl if you felt like it. Just got so old so quickly. Had such high hopes for it, but oh well. Can't knock the class stories from it though, they were very enjoyable.
thats sad to see, but I hope at the most they get what they can and bring more fans in some way in the future
No surprises there.
