Sony's E3 Press Conference Dubbed 'The Future Of Gameplay And Innovation'

Sony is already getting the hype machine rolling a month before E3. "Join PlayStation executives as we announce the future of gameplay and innovation," the company said.

The website for this invitation-only press conference says Sony will be sharing more about "the new PlayStation lineup, products, and services that will drive the upcoming year in entertainment."

Sony CEO Kaz Hirai previously said the company will make no new hardware announcements at E3, so we'll just have to wait and see what else they plan to roll out.

The conference kicks off at 6:00 PM Pacific Time and will be streamed online here.

  • If its not hardware then i'm not interested.
  • I predict a second screen add-on for the Vita.
  • prolly won't be hardware but hopefully good software for the hardware they have now.

  • Pardon me if I take that with a grain of salt.
  • We shall see good sir, we shall see.

  • Well they already have 20+ exclusives they are going to be showing off soo this E3 should be a fairly good one.

  • Something to do with waving your arms around like an idiot I assume. That's what "innovation" has become.

  • I really am excited to see what Sony has in store for us over the next year. I'm just starting to get back into Sony products, finally purchasing a PS3 last year and planning to buy a Vita. On a side note, I am getting sick of hearing the word 'innovation' from every company, not just in this industry. It is getting pretty old and overused, but whatever floats their boat.
  • *Explodes with Hype*

  • Touch screen controller, that is black instead of white?/
  • Hard to call it the future of gameplay and not unveil a new console...
  • "Join Playstation executives" ???? What the hell do they know??? If it was a meeting with famous game developers than im there, but for executives who have been responsible for destroying innovation and gaming evolution in favour of more of the same? No thanks.
  • I wonder if we'll get an update on The Last Guardian

  • I too am a little disappointed that there will be no new console announcements at E3. Although I am still happy with my 360, a new console announcement at this time will still mean a long wait until its available to purchase. I'm keen to see what Sony/Microsoft/Ninty have up their sleeves, and I want them to really fight for my consumerism.
  • Translation: PLEASE BUY THE VITA!

I hear Kaz will be ushered to the stage in a flying car.
  • I work with Kaz. Apparently his buddy Greg also knows whats gonna go down at E3. Greg and I grabbed a couple of beers saturday and he told me the big news. Looks like Sony's gonna buy out Nintendo and partner with Microsoft. A pretty good strategy. Thank's for the heads up Greg. Oh. And The Last Guardian has been restructured to be rhythum based.
  • I have difficulty believing the "innovation" part from a company that seems to just steal any idea Nintendo comes up with first. Okay, to be fair, Tiger had a handheld game system with a touch-screen before Nintendo, but Nintendo made it work. Still, though. Move is just a Wii Remote. The Playstation controller is just an uncomfortable SNES controller with analog sticks.
  • I do like that gameplay comes before innovation. There was this game company that used to do this, now they seem to want to innovate and do something different over focusing on making a console around great gameplay...
