The lights are on
The trial date for the case between Infinity Ward co-founders Jason West and Vince Zampella and Activision will begin on May 29, 2012
The case also includes The Infinity Ward Group, which is suing for unpaid bonuses, and rival Electronic Arts, which Activision claims conspired against them to destroy the Call of Duty franchise.
The original trial date was set for May 7, but was moved back at Activision's request.
A judge recently dismissed one of West and Zampella's two claims.
"...rival Electronic Arts, which Activision claims conspired against them to destroy the Call of Duty franchise." No. Activi$ion has already destroyed Call of Duty themselves.....
Haha... greed is an interesting aspect of life
we need a Call of Duty to redeem the franchise so I am for the path that will lead to that
Let the litigation begin... My money is on Activision. I've only read about this through the media, so I don't know what their contracts stipulate, but I'm guessing Activision didn't fire them because they got upset. Companies that large are always made well aware of their legal obligations before making decisions concerning high level executives. I'm doubting they just fired them in the heat of an argument. The unpaid bonuses may be a direct result of whatever happened between West/Zampella and Activision, and could very well be part of this 'breach of contract' situation. If it isn't, The Infinity Ward Group will more than likely get the money they're entitled to. The suit Activision is bringing against EA is obviously part of this West/Zampella situation, but good luck proving they 'conspired against them' to destroy the COD franchise. There's nothing harder than proving intent, unless some documentation exists somewhere. If I had to call this blind I'm going with Activision winning against West/Zampella, losing against Infinity Ward Group, and losing against EA.
Waaaaaaaaaa. Get paid upfront with a retainer release.
I'm on team West Zampella!
Just how bad would the industry become if only EA and Activision were the only 2 publishers......what a F**k**g NIGHTMARE!
Finaly please stop call of duty, damn.
I hate all this stuff. I feel bad that they can't just make games. If they were courting the opposition in breach of contract, Activision should be able to prove it before they take any steps.
What the heck? Stop the foolishness, I say.
I don't care as long as i don't have to see another Call of Duty piece of ***.
Hope they win, and for whatever the reason it opens up the doors for more lawsuits from studios against EA and Activision. Seriously, those publishers (and others who look up to their business models) are ruining the videogame industry, so some rich old white men who probably constantly mock videogames and those that play them can get even richer.
EA's conspiring to destroy Call of Duty? Finally, something good about EA!
