West, Zampella, Activision Headed To Court May 7

by Adam Biessener on Sep 12, 2011 at 07:18 AM

A Los Angeles judge has set a May 7, 2012 trial date for the grievances between Call of Duty creators Jason West and Vince Zampella and their former employers at Activision.

The pair are seeking $125 million of unpaid Modern Warfare royalties as well as an annulment of their contract with Activision, which would make them co-owners of the Modern Warfare intellectual property. Activision, for its part, is seeking $400 million in damages as part of its counter-claim that Electronic Arts and the Creative Artists Agency conspired with West and Zampella to break their then-current deal with Activision.

"I’m really looking forward to having our day in Court," Zampella said.

This is destined to be a huge deal one way or the other, depending on how the judge rules. We'll find out next year.
