No Further Mass Effect 3 Ending DLC Planned

BioWare today outlined its plan to bring fans closure to the ending of Mass Effect 3. The studio said the DLC will expand on the existing endings, but no further ending DLC is planned.

A new FAQ was posted along with today's announcement that hopefully clears up any questions for fans. "Though we remain committed and are proud of the artistic choices we made in the main game, we are aware that there are some fans who would like more closure to Mass Effect 3," BioWare said.

"The goal of the DLC is not to provide a new ending to the game, rather to offer fans additional context and answers to the end of Commander Shepard’s story."

Additionally, BioWare said it "strongly believes in the team’s artistic vision for the end of this arc of the Mass Effect franchise."

The extended ending DLC is free and out this summer.

  • I just started ME 3 and I'm loving the gameplay! The ending scenario isn't going to ruin this amazing game for me at all. I just wish I had my old crew from Mass Effect 2...
  • and then if people arent happy with this, they'll demand another new ending
  • yeah, I love the crew from ME2

    vote Thane/Legion 2012

  • If they really want to hear significantly less complaints over the ending after this next dlc, just do something with the Indoctrination (which is brilliant if true) and have closure. That's all I think people really want. Closure.
  • not seen the ending yet ...or the game ( little late) but its right for them to stick with what they've done. mean hell much as i hated the end of da2 and a few other games i wouldn't be a jerk to the point to try and force them into a new ending... i would just not buy the next game and wait for reviews
  • How much will it cost? LOL
  • today is a good day to be alive

    Salam alaikum

  • I'm sure they didn't plan to make any more ending DLC in the first place. I anticipate more people complaining.

  • Still like it how it is, but since it's free I will certainly download this.
  • I must get this series.
  • as is now the only way any of the endings made sense at all is if Bioware were trying to set themselves up for future games in the series that somehow tied in to what happened...but even then a smart man would realise you had to make people aware of the fact to avoid the controversy.

To sum up... perfect game, senseless ending.
  • It's an ok ending. Going to start awaiting news on ME4.
  • So I guess we'll just have to wait a little bit longer.

  • Thank God their not going to change the ending.
  • great game period

  • Then Bioware.. im not happy with this decision one bit.. say your prayers on the movie you're going to need it
  • I'm glad Bioware is giving fans more clarification over the events of the ending and I'm even more glad that it will be free. But I'm also glad they're putting the ending-related stuff to bed after this as I'd love for them to shift their focus to other areas of the series like expanding the multiplayer or possibly even developing a brand new game.
  • You know, personally, I really didn't like ME3's ending, but I can't imagine that this is going to do anything to improve BioWare's standing in the video game community. Even if this DLC provides exactly the kind of ending I originally wanted, and all the other kinds of endings that everyone else wanted (which would be pretty much impossible), this is still ultimately going to drag out a controversy that's become massively blown out of proportion and will continue to hurt BioWare's reputation for as long as people keep talking about it. Any politician can tell you that if you end up in a "d^mned if you do, d^mned if you don't" situation, the best choice is the one that attracts the least attention and gets you out of the spotlight as fast as possible, and for BioWare that would be sticking with what they already did and telling everyone that that's just how it is. I don't like this situation any better than anyone else, but I don't think this is a good way for BioWare to deal with it.
  • and the ending will still suck.
  • Good decision
