The lights are on
The Retake Mass Effect petition has ended. The group raised an impressive $80,000 in less than two weeks.
The petition began last week, and raised $40,000 in just over a day. "The very idea that we would even be able to reach that goal was a fever dream only a week ago," the group said. "I don't believe anyone can or should consider this effort to have been anything but spectacularly successful."
Earlier this week, BioWare's Dr. Ray Muzyka addressed the concerns of some fans saying the studio was looking to release additional game content that would offer clarity to the game's ending.
"As evidenced by the statement from Dr. Myzuka yesterday, we have made our voices heard. Those of you here have taken special care to be heard in a polite, positive manner, and I believe that this is a major contributor to that success."
The money will be donated to Child's Play, a charity organization that provides video games to children in hospitals.

Good for charity. What this says about people, however...
This story is only the half of it, it's a lot worse then the article states. The drive ended not because of the amount of money raised but because Penny Arcade was feeling pressure from other groups. It's pretty disgusting how this went down.
It doesn't mean the movement has "Won" or has a "Victory" Until the ending has been changed or a DLC that has a Alternate ending with obvious fix's like Tali's horrible photoshop image, there is still work to be done until then.
For some of you who believe that the Charity was being used for a "Reason" there is no reason behind it, It wasn't being used at all. I've been giving money to the charity for 2 years before the movement, does that mean I have a Reason? or a motive? No it does not. They are people who care for Kids like I do.
I can't stress it enough to all you that, the Movement isn't asking for help they help themselves and will continue to Hold The Line until the ending has been modified along with other issues.
nice job guys! for the children!
