EA Shows Off How You Can Win Mass Effect 3 Early From Space

Last week we heard that EA would be launching copies of Mass Effect 3 into orbit early, giving eager gamers a chance to get their hands on the game in advance of its official release. This week, EA is clarifying this crazy plan with a video.

Watch the video below for some silly footage of a real-life Normandy soaring the skies. Trust me, it's a little less impressive than it sounds.

As goofy as this promotion is, I'm also kind of enjoying the absurdity of it. Anyone in our audience planning to keep track of the GPS for the game to try to nab an early copy of Mass Effect 3?

Comments
  • Meh, I guess I'll take a gander at the GPS but the chances of getting it are between "not going to happen" and "not going to happen."

  • I am willing to bet that it comes crashing down in the deepest part of a lake or is smothered by cow **** somewhere down in the south.
  • Neat. I'll go get my shotgun!
  • I hope they aren't actually dropping copies all over the world, haha.. It's probably you pick em up at the airport.

  • i bet the upcoming stories related to this are gonna be hilarious
  • Would be neat if it landed in my house.
  • I can just imagine a group of people standing in a field looking up at the sky waiting for a copy to fall their way.

  • It would be cool to win...but...Its not gonna happen. I bet some or def going to be landing in bodies of water all over the world.
  • cant wait for this but if it land in the middle of the night then its not worth it to me.

it would be really funny if you had to dress up as a crossing gaurd and stop traffic on the freeway.
but were do you see the gps tracking or whatever.
  • If I had the time on my hand I'd take a shot t going to find it, but I'm a busy college student...

Also, they may launch a copy from NYC, but who's to say it won't land tens if not hundreds of miles away? It's going to be more luck than anything for the person who gets these copies. Like if it lands by their house or something... Haha.
  • I wont be tracking it because I don't want some super fan to try and kill me because he wants it... Yeah yeah, I kid, but I'm SURE someone would do that.
  • This is going to land on someone.
  • These could become a hardcore collector's item, if you get to keep that nice metal case.

  • There is just no way that they are going to let one of those land in a city that people wouldn't know. I'm not even going to cross my fingers to hope that I get a game to fall from the sky and land next to my house or something.
  • Oh I'll keep track of it. I mean, hey, weirder things have happened :)

  • I'd laugh my ass of if some kid in Africa who didn't own an Xbox got this and was like "What the hell?"

  • Its mine, I will get this.
  • Phil, the ocean covers 70% of the earth. Of the 30% left, developed nations represent less than 10%. Of the 10%, only .001% is within reasonable driving distance. Add in the fact that I have a family, a full time job, and millions of other gamers gunning for the same prize, my time would be better spent painting the dirt.
  • I'm too lazy to be bothered with this. Plus, I have money.

  • I can't wait to see where these things land. I'd laugh my ass off if they land on someones car or cause some other property damage.
